and internet-related terms.

|
|
501(c)(3) - Organizations that are recognized as nonprofit entities as
defined under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code, which are generally
exempt from federal income tax and to which contributions are tax-deductible.

|
|
ABA number – the American Banking Association number, also known as a
Routing number, is a unique number that identifies the financial
institution where the account is held and where the check is drawn.
It’s the 9-digit number found on the check, usually on the lower left side,
between the vertical dash and colon (|:) characters.

|
|
|
Domain name - Main address of a particular Web site. A domain name locates an
organization on the Internet. It’s the name immediately preceding .com, .net, or .org
in the URL, and includes the extension following the period. For example, for
URL http://www.suntoria.com, the Domain name is suntoria.com

|
|
Donation - An unconditional transfer of money, other assets or in-kind goods
to an organization for no consideration. Also known as a contribution or gift.
|
|
|
|
|
EIN - An Employer Identification Number is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS.
|
|
|
|
|
Form 990 - Annual tax return required by the IRS of all organizations exempt from income tax as
specified under section 501(c) of IRS tax code.
|
|
|
|
|
In-kind contribution - A donation of goods or services rather than cash.
|
|
|
|
|
Letter of determination - Current and official documentation issued by the IRS verifying an
organization's tax exempt status. Also known as a tax-exempt letter.
|
|
|
|
|
Nonprofit organization - Any US (or foreign) organization recognized as "not-for-profit".
An entity with the following characteristics that distinguish it from a business enterprise:
(a) contributions of significant amounts of resources from providers who do not expect
proportionate return, (b) operating purposes other than to provide goods or services at a
profit, and (c) absence of ownership interests like those of business enterprises. Also
known as a NPO or Charity or nonprofit or not-for-profit.

SSL - An acronym for Secure Sockets Layer, SSL is a communications standard (or protocol)
designed to protect transmissions over the World Wide Web from unauthorized parties by
encrypting confidential data while in transit over the Internet.

|
|
URL - An acronym for Uniform Resource Locator. This is the address of a website or
resource on the Internet. World Wide Web URLs begin with "http://",
for example http://www.suntoria.com/ is the URL for Suntoria. Also known as
Web address or Internet address or Address.
